The most inspiring response came from a youth group, aged 15 to 25, who embraced the challenge with remarkable enthusiasm. “Thrive garden initiative has really encouraged us to take part in gardening. That’s why after training, as a youth group we have started 26 vegetable garden beds,” youth director Jeffrey Alfred proudly shared. For these young people, the garden is more than a plot of land—it’s a lifeline for their community’s most vulnerable.

The vegetables they grow not only nourish their bodies but also fuel their mission of compassion. Every market sale provides essential support to elderly grandmothers who are raising orphaned grandchildren. One of these grandmothers, Malita, cares for two young children with an unwavering strength that belies her years. “I am thanking these young people for their work to support my two grandchildren with school books and uniforms,” Malita says, her eyes filled with gratitude.

For Malita and countless others like her, these gardens represent more than food; they symbolize a brighter future. Fresh vegetables mean healthier bodies, and the proceeds from sales mean that children like Malita’s grandchildren can attend school with pride.
